New Website with Custom Features Spices Up Commercial Foodservice

BHS Foodservice Solutions needed to overhaul their online presence. They specialize in design, fabrication, staging, project management, and supply services for countless restaurants, bars, healthcare facilities, government agencies, universities, and hotels nationwide. And they needed a website that allowed customers easy access to the products their customers search for. We designed their website to provide both business and retail customers the ability to purchase foodservice supplies online.

The project came with two significant challenges: We needed to support new and existing accounts with ERP on the website. And we had to build a proxy server that acts as an authentication layer sitting between the BHS e-commerce website and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

To overcome the first challenge, we integrated with the BHS ERP business solution to provide real-time product pricing and availability for ordering to both new and existing customers. For the second, we used Microsoft’s .NET Framework to build the server, making it possible to authenticate with the Windows authentication successfully. This step is necessary to get and send NAV data for orders, customers, etc.

We built the frontend using React. Additionally, we developed a custom CMS so that BHS could easily keep the site up to date, and we integrated the site with UNBXD to provide customers intelligent product searching.
